Last Week, Bart and his Family, well just Ben since the girls were already living at Chris' for the summer, stayed at 331 Erie. I went over for lunch with the sisters Clare (back from visiting new granbaby Rose Todd Shear in MA), Martha and Chris.
The weather has been HOT and after lunch at the North Beach Inn (formerly the Pancake House)Clare had to leave and the rest of us(John F included since it was C&J's 34th wedding anniversary) went down to the beach. Eat your heart out, I kid you not, the water was 77. We went in 4 times out to stand in the sand bar, swim out to the buoy, get your whole head wet. It was fabulous. The temp was 80, the sun was warm. Even Jordan came down and played Frisbee with Ben and MayBeth. WE all read and napped and talked and put on sunscreen at our favorite spot straight down the street to the water.
Bart, Martha and I stayed until 6:00. Then we walked up and got ready for dinner at Clementine's, onion rings and ribs. We called ahead and got there to wait only 5 minutes much to the chagrin of the waiting hordes of hot people on the street and curb. Chris and John went out for a quiet anniversary dinner someplace else and were back at the house after we walked down Erie St E to a house for sale, 5 bedrooms and right on the corner of Superior and Erie on the hill. $305,000.
Bart and I drove down at 8:45 for the sunset which is quicker and quicker now. I took a pix of the water dept and the numbers 77 in the window. Then I shot the pier and the sunset through the catwalk and ALL the people.
When I got home I showed Tom all the shots and then while watching it myself later and "fooling around", I erased all the pix which I had intended to post on the blog.
Well, Lisa said to just tell the story and you all can imagine it.

Mom, what a wonderful day in South Haven, exactly how I remember my summer days there as well. With the heat now, I imagine it is hard not to want to steal away to South Haven for the day again! However, I was amazed that your day did not include Sherman's ice cream? No butter pecan for you? Can't wait to see some pics of the gardens when you can. Luff ewe. CCS
Pictures not needed. Excellent wrap-up, Mom. I thought 73ยบ was awesome when we were there.
