SMC not so random run in...

Hello All... just a quick note... no pictures, sorry. I am overdue for a post, so here it is. Last Friday, I started my little part time job at Belk department store in the china and home department. After registering there and liking the woman who set up our registry, on a whim I asked her if she needed any part time help. She said, are you kidding. The next week, I had a little part time jig. I am scheduled to work 2 weekends a month. The department is super busy and thanks to my previous retail experience, the other people working in the department were quick to thank me for jumping right in! So, that is really beside the point of my post, but you needed some back ground to understand my excitement.

I saw a mom and daughter looking for twin sheet. After an unsuccessfully looking for the right color and size, I asked her if she was going to college soon. She answer yes. Where, I asked, totally expecting her to say UNC or NC State. She told me, Saint Mary's College. OMG, I must have talked to her and her mom for the next 1/2 hour about how much she would love going to school there! We exchanged email addresses right then. I just got done writing her an email. I hope my timing is right that she receives her email as she checks into freshman orientation. Not many people here know about the SMC that I know and love, so it was a very nice and unexpected surprise... just wanted to share!

God brings us all the right people at just the right time! I'm sure you made that girls day, and much more, her mother's day! St. Mary's College and Notre Dame really do stick with you all your life!

Hey! Great to see the Cronley Family speading the word via the new Blog! Way to go! CC I was wondering if your Dad and your brother Charlie are interested in playing golf on Friday Aug 25th, the day before my wedding? Please have them contact me at joeinpc@gmail.com. Thanks. Cousin Joe

When I lived in Louisiana, I noticed a SMC ring on the girl ringing me up at a mall store. We talked, and I thought that was pretty "wow" also! Here in B'ham I ran into a girl that had a SMC plate, too, at a drugstore. I scard her when I knocked on her window! There aren't many of us in these here parts!
I'm happy to report I stopped MY part time job last spring....

CC-Isn't it great fun to run into people from your alma mater? One of the best perks of working at a university is that I get to run into past Miami folks during our travels. It is such fun. I'm sure you passed some great advice to her.
