Horseshoes at South Haven

It's Horseshoe time at the Land in South Haven - Yay! A beautiful day, of course, at the Land was the beginning of a major deposit to my emotional bank account on Labor Day 2006. The pulled pork was warming and all the potluck dishes were brought into the screened tent, the keg was cooling, partners were practicing "throwing", the smokey bonfire was going, the pits had new sand and beer holders. What more could you ask? Oh yes, the Arts and Crafts show up at Johnson Park. All the Filbrandts were there. Mark Filbrandt has lost 78 pounds on a $1000 bet and looks younger but still scruffy and with bleached blonde hair. Joe in from Alabama, Jordan was in charge of the tournament this year. His change was a open draw for partners, no A or B level. Lilah, Mia and Peter were there, April and jake, John Paul, Amy, Lexie and Caleb( still the spitting blonde image of Joe, talks the same too).

The gals went up to the Art Show for a couple of hours, Lilah/Mia, Amy/Lexie, April, Chris and Pris. We lost the first 2 after a halfhour. We go up one side and down the aisles til we get to the Roasted almonds stand. The booths started at the Marina and went all the way up the hill.

When we got back, Jake and Dale Neinhuis were partners and eventually won the tournament. Joe F and grampa Joe Monacelli were the second level winners and Joe won second in individual.

Mom, nice post! Great to have some images to go with it. Feel a little led on by the amazing 78 lb loss with no proof pic.

OOHH how I love the Art show. Did you buy anything? I'm going to the Berea Art fair this weekend. I didn't know Charles throws the shoes. I'm sure the beer holders were the best improvement of all. Miss it much.

Well, well... I guess that offically means that summer is over...sigh...Great to hear that the Filbrandts boys all made it back for the party. I have GOT to get back there next summer...Maybe Charles can make another run at the horseshoe tourney. Lisa, yeah, the last Sumner dinner at our house, Charles set up the sticks and the boys threw the shoes!

Momma, thanks for a great post and pictures finally! Is it me or does Chrissy look like Nana in that picture? I can't help but think she does! I was doing some decluttering last weekend and came across that great frame of Koestner/Cronley pics Lisa gave us for Christmas a few years back. Seeing Nana and Papa in those pictures really made me miss them, and the whole S. Haven culture. Mom, I miss it all. Hopefully we can plan a summer visit to S. Haven as a family again next summer.

Pris did a great job of recapping the Labor Day doings in SH! It touches my heart that you four C kids have such fond memories of SH! Loved the photos, Pris!
