Food Memories

Just a quick little post. I finally got to sit down to dinner with my family last night...it's been a while (vacations, football and the bistro). I made Mom's famous or infamous mayo/parm cheese coated fish, complete with a salad AND veg (green beans). As we held hands and said our prayer, a small tear came to my eyes as I remebered how many times we (J/P Kids)all ate together and how sad it is that my family does it so little. It quickly became another great memory as we talked and joked. Both my men (Brady's voice is starting to change, will the toe hair be next? Chaz) were happy with the meal and ate it all. I really chuckled as I watched Brady take more green beans. I also thought about all those great meals Mom made. I wondered which ones some of us still make and others we should try again. Thoughts and ideas? Luff ewe all

I like your thinking Lisa... I always think of Mom when we do "breakfast for dinner"...Always when having breakfast casserole, thanks to Nana. As easy as it might sound, I will time to time get feeling for just plain white rice and hamburger with lawry's salt. For dessert, pudding and jello parfaits.. and waiting for them to set in the fridge. I will have to think some more...

Lisa, I know what you mean about dinners together. I treasure our's too and feel like they are too few. I have to also respond to CC's comment... Chaz LOVES it when I make the burger and rice. I try to do it once a month or so.

I'm making it right now, popcorn. That's my ulitimate food memory for sure. The smell of it cooking on the stove, the shaking of the old popcorn pan, tossing it into the big bowl, pouring on the melted butter, springkling the lawrey's on, and shaking it to see if you can toss it without dropping any kernels. Then taking that first handful, still warm, and filling your mouth. Yummy.

CC, I agree, the hamburger and rice is hard to beat. I love hearing that your food memories are so connected to mine, even though we didn't spend as much time in the house together. Momma, Queen of the house, is who binds us together.

You all should know that we, Joe Cronley kids, are putting together a Cronley cookbook that should be to the printers later this month. Check out heritagecookbook.com to see how easy it is to put all those "Food Memories" to print. I can't wait until ours is out!
