Camp, Ohio and Emotional Bank Deposit

Whew, I can't believe summer is coming to a close. At least, my summer trips/events/vacations are done, which makes me feel like summer is done for me. My last summer adventure is now completed. This adventure has two parts, really, Camp and the visit with Lisa in Ohio. Here is the full story!

Last Thursday, after work I drove to Concord, near Charlotte to meet up with some camp friends, Karen and Kyle Wright. They moved into a great house with wonderful colors on the walls and two perfect cats and now a new perfect puppy golden retriever. They gave me the tour of the house and all the projects they have done or are in the process of doing. Kyle is quite the handy man with his current project being framing out the attic to be a playroom/extra bedroom. I had dinner with Karen and Kyle (pizza and peach cobbler) before we all drove to camp to see the last session's closing ceremonies.

Camp hasn't seemed to change one bit, which was quite comforting to feel and see. Although, all the counselors seemed so much younger, like babies. All the leadership staff gave me big hugs and asked a lot of questions about what I am doing now and how Charles was doing. Karen, Kyle and I stuck around to sing the traditional closing songs and giggled at all our camp memories.

I stuck a peek at Brady with his cabin on their bench in the amphitheater during the closing ceremonies. He was smack in the middle of the cabinmates, which automatically makes me believe he was the popular kid in his cabin. To my surprise, Brady was also the tallest camper in his cabin! I did not want distrub his camp experience to say hi, but I did talk to him after the ceremoines.

Friday morning, I drove back to camp to pick up Brady. I drove down East Camp road to see many of the open air cabins renovated and moved up the hill a bit. The two oldest boy cabins now share a deck. Brady was in cabin 21. Charles was a counselor in 21 as well. However, with all the remodeling all the old writing on the ceiling was gone. boo... I met one of his friends from cabin 35 (girl cabin). At the same time I had a new junior counselor walk up to me and say, "did you used to work at the pool and is your name CC?" I said, yes, and I recognized her from one of my very first swim lessons!

Now, the driving begins... we had lunch in Mooresville at a Sonic drive in. I would have bet on Brady sleeping the majority of the way, but he slept for about 30 mins. I played the cool aunt and let him listen to whatever he wanted on the radio, his ipod or my ipod. I am so KEWL! haha. We chatted mostly about camp. He told me before he left for camp, he did not want to go, but now after camp, he wants to go back for a 2 week session! Nice!

About 8 hours later, we arrived to 330 Wyleswood and honked once we got in the drive way. We ate pizza for dinner, chatted all about camp and our drive. This is when Brady told Lisa that his counselor demonstrated how to shotgun a coke... oh geez!

Saturday, Lisa and I had a blast going around to antique shops, a flea market and her old navy. Brady had football all day and had plans to go to the Brown's game with his heart breaker, cutie best friend, Jake. Brian worked and also had plans to go to the Brown's game. For dinner, Lisa took me to the French Bistro. We sat outside for dinner and enjoyed our fab meal. Lisa and I both had lobster bisque and some wine before our dinners. Lisa had wahoo (spelling?) and I tried the famous skate wing. The server, Sandy, took our picture... (notice we are wearing jackets!) It is crazy for me to even think about wearing a jacket in the middle of August!!! Later that night, Brian and his friend were party animals and hit the bar, but we (really, I) decided my PJ's sounded much better than the bar.

Sunday, we had a nice breakfast and read the paper. Unfortunately, it rained all day, but that did not stop Lisa and I from going to a great big plant nursery that Mom loves as well. I got a few hints on hardy plants that might work in the NC clay soil. From there we got coffee at Borders and browsed the plant books, craft books and the dictionary for things that start with "J" for this year's Christmas gifts!!!

Oh man, I have written quite a bit... I will have to let Lisa take over now... I think I set her back up on the blog, so she can now post and comment... Lisa... do you want to take over???

Last little bit... I love their kitty, Dak!!! He is about the 1/4 of the size of Brodie and so cuddly! Their dog, Bronx, is also a great big teddy bear!
